What’s happening in web3
Yuga Labs attempted to sell $300million in metaverse real estate. It is the largest NFT launch to date. Unfortunately, the NFT launch was far from perfect. It congested the Ethereum network and required nearly $100m in gas fees.
Aku, an NFT collection launched by formed MLB player Micah Johnson, lost $34 million due to a smart contract error. Users will be fine as the contract is being rewritten, but the creators will have missed out on all the revenue from the NFT mint.
Nike released an NFT sneaker in partnership with RTFKT.
Opensea is buying GemXYZ, an NFT aggregator that helps you find the best price for your NFT.
A hacker stole 134 NFTs worth $2.7 billion from BAYC holders. It was a phishing attack where a malicious link was sent from the official BAYC Instagram account. It tricked users into giving up control of their wallets.

The sale of ENS domains skyrocketed — daily volume passed that of BAYC. Largely because of a trend to buy 3 and 4 letter ENS domains.
