What’s happening in web3
Vitalik wrote an interesting thread about open contradictions in Web3. We recommend reading this if you can.
Vitalik, Glen Weyl, and Puja Ohlhaver published a paper on soul-bound tokens (tokens that cannot be transferred). Check out the thread below for a summary:
Coinbase announced a bunch of things the ability for users to browse Web3 apps from the Coinbase app (which is a custodial wallet) and an SDK to enable fiat to crypto onramps directly from wallets like Metamask.
Spotify is testing a new feature that allows artists to promote their NFTs.
The team behind Aave announced Lens, a decentralised social media protocol, a few months ago. This week they announced they’re going live on Polygon.
Ethereum’s merge from proof of work to proof of stake might happen in August based on an announcement from Permissionless.
You don’t hear a lot about B2B use cases in Web3 though there are many. Polygon announced a solution called Nightfall to enable businesses to transact privately.
FTX, a cryptocurrency exchange, announced its entry into the equity market. Users will be able to buy and sell shares.
As always, join our community to check out more events, contribute to a project, and stay up to date. Until next week!
